Eleanor Marie Oman Searls

August 20, 2003 — This is Mom's Time, in many meanings of the expression.

What a life this gal had. What an amazing, loving spirit. What a privilege to get so much love, for so long, from such a rare and hearty source.

When I was with Mom this last week, I took the laptop and a scanner into her room, with just one box among many of her memorabilia. The box was labeled "Alaska," where she lived and worked from 1939 to 1945.

The result is the first of what will eventually be several galleries of pictures from Mom's life:

North Dakota to Alaska, 1913-1946

Here are the next two:

New Jersey, 1946-1974

North Carolina, 1974-Present

Here are the most recent galleries, from this past April and June:

90th Birthday, 2003

Beach Trip, 2003

And here is her obituary.

If anybody has any stories and pictures they'd like to send my way, write me and we'll work it out. Searls.com is a big Linux server at a "colo" with lots of cheap space and bandwidth. I expect we'll be adding plenty of memories from Searls, Oman, Sponberg, Englert and other unbroken circles.

Please send them along.
